Job summary

GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF THE VALLEY WORKS INC is seeking a part-time nonproduction team member for the Lynchburg retail location. The role focuses on customer service, donor interaction, and maintaining donor records in a stores environment.

Under supervision of the Store Manager, tasks include greeting donors, processing donations, ensuring security and cleanliness, and supporting daily operations to maximize store profitability and training opportunities.

Mission Contribution:

To ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and stewardship of the retail store through donor and customer relations, processing donated goods, quality control, to maximize profitability and increase training opportunities.

Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Store Manager or designee, is responsible for customer service, facility security and maintenance, greeting and assisting donors, breakdown of donations and the maintenance of accurate donor records.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers, team members, customers, and donors.
  • Ability to work within a team situation.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.
Special Requirements:
  • Having a cell phone is not required for employment, but access to applications and/or resources may be limited unless a cell phone is used for authentication.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the retail space.
  • Able to stand, bend and reach.
  • Able to lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move up to forty (40) pounds with no support regularly. Over forty (40) pounds request for additional team member assistance as needed.
  • Able to perform tasks that require repetitive motion. Manual dexterity is required.
