Job summary

Infinite Legacy in Baltimore, MD, seeks an Organ Family Services Coordinator I to lead compassionate discussions with families about organ donation, coordinating with hospital partners and the Aftercare team to ensure seamless support from authorization through bereavement resources.

The role requires 1–2 years in a healthcare setting, strong communication, and the ability to travel within the donor service area. Empathy and ethical engagement are essential to serve diverse families confidently.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nursing, social work, psychology, counseling, or related healthcare field preferred; equivalent clinical or counseling experience considered.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in an acute health care setting (preferred), hospice, bereavement counseling center, crisis intervention, etc. where there was active involvement in issues involving death, dying, grief and loss.
  • Ability to interact with grieving families in a supportive, empathic manner while considering cultural diversities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing to donor families, recipients, health care personnel, and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Responds promptly to donor referrals, leading families through donation discussions with compassion, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Establishes initial contact with the potential donor family and advocates for organ/tissue donation through respectful discussions.
  • Collaborates with hospital partners to strengthen trust and relationships.
  • Ensures the family’s understanding and comfort throughout the authorization process with clear, sensitive communication.
  • Partners with the Aftercare team to ensure seamless transition and ongoing support for donor families.
  • Completes all necessary documentation within established timeframes and participates in ongoing education and simulation training.
  • Works with funeral homes and hospital staff during donor management to ensure donor families’ needs are communicated clearly.
