Job summary

University of Michigan is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Donor Engagement to shape and implement a donor-centered engagement strategy across the giving continuum. The AVP will report to the Vice President for Development and oversee multiple senior directors and offices to deliver a seamless, personalized donor experience.

Hybrid work is available; in-person presence three days per week is required to maintain leadership visibility in an integrated advancement program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 10–12 years of progressive leadership experience in development/advancement, marketing, communications, or related fields.
• Expertise leading complex teams and managing multiple functional areas.
• Strong understanding of donor lifecycle, stewardship best practices, and annual giving strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead a comprehensive donor engagement strategy aligned with institutional fundraising priorities and campaign goals.
• Serve as an advisor to the Vice President for Development and collaborate across the university leadership.
• Champion a donor-centric philosophy emphasizing personalization, stewardship, and long-term relationships.
