Job summary

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Portland, ME is seeking a Sorter/Processor to support the sorting room and production store operations. This 40-hour-per-week role (also 28-hour part-time shifts) offers hands-on duties in sorting, tagging, pricing, and merchandising of donated goods.

Responsibilities include operating the sorting room, maintaining a clean work area, and meeting hourly targets for garment handling, tagging, and pricing, while supporting the work therapy program

Responsibilities

• Sort and process donations by inspecting and separating saleable from unsaleable items.
• Deliver a minimum of 300 store quality garments per hour.
• Categorize and box seasonal clothing, bric, and shoes.
• Process, hang, tag and bar all sorted merchandise.
• Deliver a minimum of 225 hung garments per hour.
• Ensure clothes are hung according to policy and on proper hanger.
• Ensure that tag is properly placed on garment according to Salvation Army policy.
• Process and price all sorted merchandise.
• Deliver a minimum of 225 priced garments per hour.
• Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
• Sort and clean all saleable miscellaneous merchandise donations daily.
• Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.
• Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.
• Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
• Sort and clean all saleable shoes, handbags and accessory donations daily.
• Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.
• Process to the store a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour maintaining all merchandise in the required order and manner.
• Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
• Sort and measure all saleable linen items daily as required
• Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.
