Job summary

The Salvation Army Family Store in St. Joseph, MO is hiring a part-time Donation Processing Associate to greet donors, process donations, and help maintain an efficient donation flow.

The role requires clear English communication, reliable attendance, and the ability to work 25 hours per week including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. You will sort, categorize, inspect and track donations, assist with unloading, and follow safety guidelines in a mission‑driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet donors and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Assist donors with unloading and accepting donations.
  • Accurately process and track donated items.
  • Inspect donations and identify acceptable materials.
  • Safeguard all donated goods and assigned equipment.
  • Educate donors on donation guidelines and available services.
  • Sort, categorize, and process donated merchandise.
  • Power sort donations as received, where applicable.
  • Support production goals and processing standards.
  • Load and unload Salvation Army trucks in accordance with center policy.
  • Assist with moving merchandise and materials throughout the facility.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe donation area.
  • Follow company policies and safety procedures.
  • Report complaints, injuries, equipment issues, or property damage promptly.
  • Assist with maintaining an efficient donation flow and processing area.
  • Paid training on donation procedures and production standards.
  • Hands‑on instruction for donation processing and merchandise handling.
  • Ongoing coaching and support from store leadership.
  • Opportunities to develop customer service, retail, and warehouse skills.

Donation Processing Associate

Location: St. Joseph, MO

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Job Type: Part-Time

What You'll Do
Donation Receiving & Processing
  • Greet donors and provide exceptional customer service
  • Assist donors with unloading and accepting donations
  • Accurately process and track donated items
  • Inspect donations and identify acceptable materials

Production & Operations
  • Sort, categorize, and process donated merchandise according to Salvation Army standards

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to move larger items with assistance when needed
  • Work in varying temperatures and conditions common to warehouse and donation center environments
