The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a Part-Time Donation Center Associate to support donation processing, customer service, and warehouse operations at the St. Joseph location. This role includes greeting donors, handling donations, and maintaining a safe, organized work area.

Training is provided, with opportunities to develop customer service, retail, and warehouse skills in a mission-driven environment. Schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Job Type: Part-Time

Schedule: 25 hours per week, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled

What You'll Do

Donation Receiving & Processing

• Greet donors and provide exceptional customer service
• Assist donors with unloading and accepting donations
• Accurately process and track donated items
• Inspect donations and identify acceptable materials
• Safeguard all donated goods and assigned equipment
• Educate donors on donation guidelines and available services

Production & Operations

• Sort, categorize, and process donated merchandise according to Salvation Army standards
• Power sort donations as received, where applicable
• Support production goals and processing standards
• Load and unload Salvation Army trucks in accordance with center policy
• Assist with moving merchandise and materials throughout the facility

Safety & Organization

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe donation area
• Follow company policies and safety procedures
• Report complaints, injuries, equipment issues, or property damage promptly
• Assist with maintaining an efficient donation flow and processing area

Training Provided

• Paid training on donation procedures and production standards
• Hands-on instruction for donation processing and merchandise handling
• Ongoing coaching and support from store leadership
• Opportunities to develop customer service, retail, and warehouse skills

Preferred Experience

• Customer service experience
• Retail, warehouse, production, donation center, or material handling experience preferred
• Experience working in a nonprofit or mission‑driven environment is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday
• Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds
• Ability to move larger items with assistance when needed
• Work in varying temperatures and conditions common to warehouse and donation center environments
