Job summary

The Boston Red Sox are seeking an Area Scout to cover territory in the Dominican Republic. The Area Scout will evaluate and report on players, build a network of contacts, and collaborate with scouting staff and leadership to inform signings.

Candidates must reside in the Dominican Republic year-round. The role requires travel to events, data collection, video, and strict adherence to MLB and Red Sox international scouting policies; you will contribute to the team’s player development efforts.

Qualifications

• Must be able to build relationships with players, coaches, and agents from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong work ethic, honesty, and willingness to learn.
• Familiarity with hardware, tools, technology used for evaluations.
• Understanding of Dominican Republic market and international scouting landscape.
• Ability to collect and use information to complete the scouting process.

Responsibilities

• Primary Scout for the assigned area; evaluate talent, report, and establish a network of players, trainers, and representatives.
• Maintain a detailed preference list for players in your area and others you report on.
• Develop knowledge of specified technologies and apply results to evaluation.
• Collect data, perform physical assessments, and gather video of players.
• Evaluate player makeup and build relationships with players and families.
