Job summary

The Second Judicial District Court in Albuquerque, NM is recruiting a full-time Domestic Relations Hearing Officer (U) for the Family Court Division. Under the supervision of the Presiding Family Court Judge, you will handle a caseload of domestic relations and domestic violence matters, including child support and mediation duties.

Qualified candidates hold a JD from an accredited law school and NM license, with at least five years of legal practice and substantial family law experience.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and NM license in good standing.
• Minimum five (5) years of legal practice with at least 20% in family law or domestic relations.
• Ability to communicate complex rules clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
• Extensive knowledge of NM and federal case law, statutes, rules, and research.

Responsibilities

• Review petitions for indigency.
• Conduct hearings on petitions and motions, before and after decree entry.
• Serve as a child support hearing officer in appropriate cases.
• Carry out duties of a domestic violence special commissioner per NM rules.
• Prepare recommendations for review and final court approval.
