Confidential in Houston seeks an experienced Domestic Logistics Manager to lead day-to-day domestic shipping for major retail accounts. You will oversee logistics coordinators, coordinate with carriers and warehouses, and ensure orders are shipped accurately and on time.

You will manage both individual accounts and a small team, driving process improvements, ensuring compliance with retailer requirements, and optimizing routes and costs.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Domestic Logistics Manager to oversee day-to-day domestic shipping operations across a portfolio of major retail accounts. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing logistics coordinators, coordinating with carriers, brokers, and warehouses, and ensuring all orders are shipped accurately, on time, and in compliance with retailer requirements. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing both individual accounts and team operations simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

Account Management

• Oversee and manage all assigned domestic retail accounts daily, ensuring smooth order flow and on-time shipment execution.
• Monitor order status across accounts and proactively address delays, discrepancies, or compliance issues.

Order Routing and Fulfillment

• Ensure all orders are routed correctly and on time, coordinating with logistics representatives when delays or issues arise.
• Manage direct fulfillment and dropship orders, ensuring timely transmission to warehouse partners within required daily deadlines.
• Split oversized orders appropriately to ensure shipments remain within single truckload parameters.

Carrier and Broker Coordination

• Coordinate daily with carriers, brokers, and warehouse partners to ensure seamless logistics operations.
• Select the most appropriate carriers and shipping methods to optimize cost and delivery efficiency.
• Monitor and confirm daily pickups, following up on aging orders as necessary.

Data Accuracy and Systems Management

• Ensure all order information is accurately entered into the logistics management system.
• Submit Advanced Shipping Notices within required retailer timeframes.
• Close and invoice orders daily upon shipment confirmation.

Tracking and Reporting

• Track all shipments from pickup through delivery, following up with carriers proactively to ensure on-time performance.
• Submit daily operational reports summarizing order status, shipment progress, and any open issues.
• Notify internal sales teams promptly when orders are delayed or require timeline extensions.
• Regularly review and stay current on retailer-specific shipping guidelines, routing requirements, and compliance standards across all active accounts.
• Ensure all shipments meet retailer requirements to avoid chargebacks or compliance penalties.
• Supervise, train, and support a team of Domestic Logistics Coordinators.
• Approve time-off requests and ensure adequate team coverage at all times.
• Maintain clear, open communication with team members and senior management, ensuring all questions and issues are addressed promptly.
• Monitor logistics email communications regularly for shipment updates, order changes, and status notifications.

Project Support

• Assist with additional supply chain projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in domestic logistics, transportation management, or supply chain operations.
• The ability to multitask between supporting coordinators, problem-solving, and managing your workload.
• STRONG management experience in a specialized domestic logistics.
• Experience managing FTL and LTL shipments including carrier selection, routing, and order splitting.
• Proven experience managing retail account compliance requirements across major national retailers.
• Experience supervising and developing a logistics team.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities simultaneously.
• Proficiency in logistics management systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with a strong sense of urgency and follow-through.

Preferred

• Experience working with big-box and specialty retailers and their routing and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with dropship and direct fulfillment logistics workflows.
• Experience with Advanced Shipping Notices and retailer-specific EDI requirements.
