Job summary

People Freight seeks a Domestic Coordinator/Dispatcher in Atlanta, GA to coordinate domestic freight from pickup to delivery. You will manage FTL/LTL and local transport, source carriers, negotiate rates, track shipments, and ensure timely customer updates.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in domestic freight/dispatch, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in domestic freight, transportation, dispatch, logistics or freight forwarding.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. domestic transportation.
• Experience with FTL and LTL shipments preferred.
• Experience with carriers, drivers and transportation providers.
• Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced freight environment.
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
• Experience with transportation or freight forwarding software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and dispatch domestic freight shipments from pickup through delivery.
• Arrange and manage FTL, LTL, drayage, and local transportation as required.
• Source and coordinate carriers based on shipment requirements.
• Obtain and negotiate transportation rates with carriers and service providers.
• Track shipments and proactively manage delays, exceptions, and delivery issues.
• Communicate regularly with customers, carriers, drivers, and internal teams.
• Confirm pickup and delivery appointments and ensure all requirements are met.
• Prepare and maintain accurate shipment and transportation documentation.
• Monitor shipment status and provide timely updates to customers.
• Resolve operational issues quickly and efficiently.
• Ensure shipments are handled in accordance with customer requirements and company procedures.
• Assist with invoicing, rate confirmation, PODs and other transportation documentation.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure all shipment information is updated in the company’s systems.
