Attendants communicate frequently with customers regarding administrative procedures, including, but not limited to, enrollment, scheduling, and “end of day” updates.

Doggy Day Camp (DDC) Attendant supports daily operations of day camp by overseeing interactive behaviors of multiple day camp dogs of varying size, weight, and personality. Dogs are in outdoor spaces and require constant supervision and interaction by DDC Attendant. Attendants communicate frequently with customers regarding administrative procedures, including, but not limited to, enrollment, scheduling, and “end of day” updates.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome customers and campers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Provide prompt and courteous service to customers.
• Explain policies and procedures to pet guardians.
• Communicate with pet guardians regarding pet’s behavior and play, and address behavior concerns with pet guardians on pick-up.
• Download and utilize our app Paw Partner for scheduling, check ins/outs, billing, behavior information, etc.
• Demonstrate sincere concern for the care, attitudes, and behavior of pets and their guardians.
• Supervise, monitor, and address the behavior of dogs.
• Be comfortable working in a muddy environment in all weather, including heat, cold, rain and snow.
• Ensure safety, quality care, and enjoyment of all dogs by resolving behavioral issues.
• Recognize and immediately address signs of aggression or other behavioral concerns.
• Keep DDC yard and indoor spaces clean, including immediately removing, cleaning, and disposing of dog waste in an appropriate manner.
• Communicate effectively with other DDC team members regarding the day-to-day care and needs of individual dogs.
• Follow closing procedures as outlined, including removing all trash from premises, cleaning and organizing public space, and ensuring water bowls, toys, linens etc., are organized, cleaned, and sanitized for the next business day.
• Always represent St. Hubert’s in a professional and courteous manner. Provide quality service to the public, volunteers, and employees recognizing their individual contributions to the success of the organization.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications And Requirements

• Knowledge of or ability to learn canine play behavior; and ability to recognize unsafe play or behavior.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn dog handling skills, including the ability to physically handle dogs of all sizes, including dogs weighing more than 50lbs.
• Ability to manage large groups of dogs of varying sizes and energy levels.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service orientation. Ability to communicate effectively, courteously, and professionally with a variety of individuals representing the public, board members, volunteers, donors, and employees. Ability to conduct and handle difficult conversations.
• Possession of a smart phone that can download Paw Partner app.
• Computer literacy with proficient use of programs including Microsoft Office programs, email, and internet.
• Ability to handle and process payment transactions.
• Passion for St. Hubert’s mission, and for caring for all animals regardless of age, breed, temperament, or species, and supporting and educating members of the public, free of judgment or bias.

Physical Requirements And Work Environment

• Regularly sits at a computer station and operates electronic equipment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted regularly, 50+ pounds assisted.
• Ability to be comfortable working with dogs.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical activity daily, including but not limited to lifting and carrying, reaching, stooping, squatting, and bending.
• Due to the nature of shelter work may be exposed to deceased, fractious, or aggressive animals; common allergens; hostile or irate persons; zoonotic or other diseases; unpleasant noises, odors, or sights; and extreme temperatures.

Education And Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience working or volunteering at an animal shelter, boarding kennel, or other facility where animals are housed preferred.

Salary premium may be offered for multilingual candidates proficient in Spanish, French, and Mandarin.
