Job summary

Sentinel K9 is expanding its Argyle location and seeks a full-time Dog Trainer to create individualized training plans, conduct client lessons, and uphold top animal-care standards. You will train dogs across board-and-train, puppy, and private programs while communicating progress to owners.

Ideal candidates demonstrate confidence with dogs of various sizes, strong customer service, and the ability to grow into leadership within a fast-paced, multi-location company.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of basic canine obedience and behavior.
• Confidence handling dogs of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including some weekends.
• Commitment to responsible, humane animal care and professional development.
• Experience with board-and-train programs.
• Understanding of canine reactivity and behavioral modification.
• Experience conducting client consultations or selling training services.
• Professional dog training certifications or related education.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily obedience and behavioral training sessions.
• Work with dogs enrolled in board-and-train, puppy, and private training programs.
• Develop and implement individualized training plans.
• Address common behavioral challenges, including leash pulling, jumping, barking, and reactivity.
• Monitor, document, and communicate training progress.
• Maintain consistent training techniques and company standards.
• Conduct owner lessons, training consultations, and graduation sessions.
• Educate owners on training techniques, expectations, and continued progress.
• Recommend appropriate training programs based on each dog’s needs.
• Assist with selling training packages and earn commissions on qualifying sales.
• Maintain professional relationships with clients and provide excellent customer service.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of dogs in training.
• Assist with feeding, exercise, enrichment, and general kennel care as needed.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe training environments.
• Work collaboratively with kennel technicians, other trainers, and management.
• Follow company safety protocols, animal handling procedures, and documentation requirements.
