Job summary

Destination Pet LLC in Memphis, TN is seeking a Dog Trainer to develop and implement training plans for clients and their dogs. You will teach obedience commands, assess behavior, and guide pet parents on reinforcement techniques.

Evening and weekend availability is required to support busy schedules. The role offers a pay rate of $12.00–$14.00 per hour plus 5% commission, with benefits like telehealth, 401K, and pet insurance.

Qualifications

• One year of professional dog training experience required.
• Strong written and oral communication with clients.
• CGC/AKC evaluator credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create a training plan for the dog and owner.
• Teach commands to the dog and reinforce learning with the pet parent.
• Identify and address barking, aggression, or leash issues.
• Be patient with dogs and adapt plans to individual needs.
• Maintain safety and sanitation when handling multiple dogs.

Teach commands to the dog and pet parent. Be patient with a stubborn dog. Teach pet parents about dog behavior. Understand a pet parent’s needs. Work with the pet parent to teach them about their dog. Teach pet parents how to reinforce good behavior. Listen to pet parent concerns. Performs add-on services as needed. Follows procedures for the safe handling of all pets.REQUIREMENTS:Expertise & Experience:Must be a pet fanatic – pets are part of our family!One year of professional dog training experience required.Training certification preferred.Knowledge of various dog commands.Knowledge of different dog breeds.Ability to communicate effectively with clients.Strong written and oral communication skills.Ability to identify pet behavioral issues.Ability to create a plan of action for pet parents.CGC Evaluator, AKC Evaluator.Physical:Must be able to work evenings and weekends Must frequently lift 40 pounds. Must be able to be on feet for the duration of your shift. Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs frequently.
