Job Description: As a Dog Daycare Attendant, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and happiness of the dogs in our care. You will supervise dog playgroups, monitor behaviors, and maintain a clean, sanitary and organized daycare facility. A passion for animals and a strong work ethic are essential to excel in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a large number of dogs during playtime and ensure that they are safe and behaving appropriately.
  • Monitor closely for any potential conflicts or escalations and redirect or remove one or more dogs from the situation as needed.
  • Follow standards for safety when handling dogs, particularly aggressive dogs or escape artists.
  • Assist with feeding paying specific attention to special handling notes (food aggressive, hand feed, add water, etc).
  • Ensure the facility meets or exceeds our expectations with regards to cleanliness and safety.
  • Clean and sanitize all pet enclosures, play yards and common areas.
  • Use disinfectants and other chemicals safely as instructed.
  • Pick up and dispose of trash or debris in all areas of the property.
  • Clean up dog poop, urine and vomit several times throughout the day.
  • Assist with dog introductions and ensure compatibility among playgroups.
  • Immediately alert the management team when a dog is ill or exhibiting odd behavior.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of dog behavior and body language and willingness to learn more.
  • Ability to handle dogs of various sizes and breeds.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail regarding feeding instructions, medications and behaviors/likes/dislikes.
  • Ability to handle conflict with tact and diplomacy.
  • Able to perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, and standing for long periods as well as working in temperature extremes, working outside or in distracting environments.
  • Able to take direction well and apply it independently.
  • Mature, responsible, dependable, punctual and a strong work ethic.
  • Flexible schedule. Holidays and weekends are required. Full-Time AND Part-Time Available.

Bark and Board is conveniently located two miles north of Uptown Charlotte in NoDa, Charlotte's Historic Arts District. Our facility includes over 30,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor play space for doggie daycare and large dog suites for comfy overnight boarding. Our facility is climate controlled and contains fire and security protection.
