Job summary

ASPCA's Cruelty Recovery Center in Columbus, OH seeks a Behavior Specialist to conduct daily behavior evaluations, implement plans, and provide enrichment for dogs in care. The role collaborates with shelter operations, medicine, and behavior experts to advance welfare and ensure humane outcomes.

The position requires strong animal behavior knowledge, low-stress handling, and excellent communication. Travel up to 25% may be needed; weekend availability is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required and certification in CCPDT/IAABC is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily treatment sessions and record data in CRC database.
• Perform behavior evaluations and re-evaluations of CRC animals.
• Provide socialization and enrichment and assist with handling and housing of animals.
• Coach volunteers and staff in behavior and enrichment techniques.
• Prepare behavior-related paperwork for fosters, partners and adopters.
