Job summary

REIC Rentals is seeking an energetic Inside Sales Representative for a DoD SkillBridge internship in Hermiston, Oregon. You will be the central link between equipment, operations, and customers, handling sales support and day‑to‑day store tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

This internship offers training in rentals safety, inside sales, and process flow, with compensation discussion if hired after the internship. Schedule: Mon-Fri 8 AM–5 PM, summer Saturdays 8 AM–12 PM.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication.

• Knowledge of the local valley, terrain, and service area preferred.
• Ability to stay organized and multitask.

• Experience in construction environment and operating around heavy and small equipment.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for customers providing essential sales and operational support.
• Answer incoming calls, reservations, and dispatch requests.
• Engage customers in person and over the phone in a professional manner.
• Walk the yard daily to stay familiar with equipment availability, condition, and repair status.
• Negotiate rental rates to maximize profitability and market share.
• Load and unload equipment as needed.
• Maintain accurate rental transactions and inventory counts.
• Coordinate with shop staff on repairs and rent-ready priorities.
• Keep the counter, showroom, and yard clean and organized.
• Support store operations including seasonal tasks and safety guidelines.

What You'll Do

As an Inside Sales Representative, you'll be the first point of contact for customers while providing essential sales and operational support.

Schedule

Monday-Friday | 8 AM - 5 PM and during the summer, our employees are on rotation for Saturdays 8 AM-12 PM

Compensation (if hired after the internship)

Your day will include:

• Answering incoming calls, reservations, and dispatch requests
• Engaging customers in person and over the phone in a professional, friendly manner
• Walking the yard daily to stay familiar with equipment availability, condition, and repair status
• Understanding customer needs and recommending the safest, most suitable equipment
• Negotiating rental rates to maximize profitability and market share
• Loading and unloading equipment as needed
• Maintaining accurate rental transactions and inventory counts
• Communicating closely with shop staff on repairs and rent‑ready priorities
• Keeping the counter, showroom, and yard clean and organized
• Supporting store organization, snow removal, and seasonal operations
• Following all safety guidelines and company procedures
• Performing additional duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

• Strong communication written and verbal

• Solid experience with sales and customer relationship building skills.
• Knowledge of the local valley, terrain, and service area (preferred)
• Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks

• Experience working in Construction environment, and operating or working around heavy and small equipment.
• College education (preferred)

• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
• Adaptable in fast‑paced outdoor and retail environments

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and reach throughout the day
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
• Willingness to work in harsh weather and varying outdoor conditions
• Willingness to work overtime when required
