DoD SkillBridge Fleet Mechanic - Diesel Technician

Mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining fleet road equipment including tractors, trailers, thermo-king units, converter dollies, and maintenance vehicles. Ensure compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations. Maintain detailed logs of repairs and parts used. Perform road rescue as needed.

This application is only available to active-duty service members eligible for the DoD SkillBridge Internship, within the last 12 months of active duty. This is an unpaid internship in partnership with the DoD SkillBridge program.

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, reefers, lift gates, etc.).
• Perform preventative maintenance within company standards.
• Complete documentation of repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability.
• Handle road service calls and perform road rescue/transport as needed.
• Log repairs in the Shop Fax system.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment following safety and government regulations.
• Manage inventory and records.
• Back up other maintenance personnel.
• Willingness to assume increased responsibilities and certifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty diesel or reefer mechanic, or 2 years with Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
• Own personal hand tools required.
• CDL A and DOT certification preferred.
• Ability to read technical manuals and communicate effectively.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations.
• Proficient in computer software related to maintenance.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
