A leading company specializing in food distribution is seeking a Mechanic to manage the maintenance and repairs of fleet road equipment. The position involves ensuring compliance with trucking regulations, performing repairs, and documenting maintenance logs. Mechanic will be responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of the Fleet road equipment including tractors, trailers, thermo-king units, converter dollies, and maintenance vehicles. Ensure compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations. Mechanics will also be responsible for documenting, completing, and maintaining current maintenance logs for all repairs and parts used daily. The position may require performing road rescue as needed.
This application is only available to active-duty service members eligible to participate in a DoD SkillBridge Internship. The service member must be within the last 12 months of their active-duty contract. This is an unpaid, non-benefit eligible internship position in partnership with the DoD SkillBridge program.
Responsibilities include troubleshooting, diagnosing, rebuilding, replacing, and completing repairs on diesel equipment such as tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, and lift gates. Perform preventative maintenance within company standards, document all repairs, handle road service calls, and keep track of repairs using the Shop Fax system. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, manage inventory, and back up other maintenance personnel. Willingness to assume increased responsibilities and certifications is required. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications include at least 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel or reefer mechanic, or 2 years with Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification. Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, experience in administering PM programs, and the ability to work independently are essential. Must furnish personal hand tools. CDL A and DOT certification are preferred.
