Job summary

SMX seeks a Network Engineer I to design, implement, and maintain DoW networks for enterprise and mission transport systems. Role involves onsite support Monday–Friday with up to 50% travel, including terrestrial, SATCOM, tactical, and cloud integrations to support national security operations.

The position requires hands-on experience with Cisco, Linux, VMware, Juniper, and Palo Alto, plus CCNA/CCNP and DoD cybersecurity knowledge. U.S. citizenship and Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Clearance Required: Secret; US citizenship required; Top Secret with SCI eligibility preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Hands-on network engineering experience.
• Proven experience with enterprise routing/switching technologies and transport architectures.
• Experience with Cisco, Linux, VMware, Juniper, Palo Alto, or equivalent platforms.
• CCNA or CCNP certification active and current.
• Strong understanding of DISA STIGs, RMF, and DoD cybersecurity principles.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% (CONUS and OCONUS).

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer secure enterprise and mission transport network architectures.
• Integrate terrestrial, SATCOM, tactical, and cloud-based networking capabilities.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network incidents and outages.
• Support lab integration, testing activities, and operational transitions.
• Coordinate with Government engineers and mission partners.
