Job summary

BB&E seeks a Structural Engineer to support NAVFAC Southeast in Jacksonville, FL. You will design, analyze, and review projects for Navy and Marine Corps facilities, ensuring code-compliant designs per UFC and DoD standards.

You will coordinate with architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical teams and provide on-site problem resolution during construction. A PE is preferred, with 5+ years of DoD experience. ABET accreditation is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 5 years of structural engineering design experience, including at least 1 year on Federal or DoD projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized structural engineering support for planning, design, and construction of Navy and Marine Corps facilities.
• Prepare and review structural calculations, design analyses, specifications, and construction drawings for concrete, steel, masonry, and timber structures.
• Support development of project scopes, design documentation, and cost estimates for MILCON, facility repair, and renovation projects.
• Conduct field investigations, site assessments, and structural condition evaluations to identify required repairs or modifications.
• Review design-build packages, contractor submittals, and shop drawings for technical accuracy and compliance with NAVFAC and UFC criteria.
• Ensure coordination of structural design with architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
• Apply current UFC, DoD, and ASCE standards to design deliverables.
• Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and value engineering studies.
• Provide on-site support during construction including RFI responses and design clarifications.
• Prepare reports, design summaries, and technical recommendations for project managers.
