Job summary
OtterBase is seeking a Structural Engineer to provide technical design support for NAVFAC Southeast in Jacksonville, Florida. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program required; Master's preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of structural engineering design experience, including at least 1 year on Federal or DoD projects.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred.
- Software: Autodesk (AutoCAD/Revit), Microsoft Office, and structural analysis software (STAAD Pro, RAM, SAP2000).
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized structural engineering support for planning, design, and construction of Navy and Marine Corps facilities.
- Prepare and review structural calculations, design analyses, specifications, and construction drawings for concrete, steel, masonry, and timber structures.
- Support development of project scopes, design documentation, and cost estimates for military construction (MILCON), facility repair, and renovation projects.
- Conduct field investigations, site assessments, and structural condition evaluations to identify required repairs or modifications.
- Review design-build packages, contractor submittals, and shop drawings for technical accuracy and compliance with NAVFAC and UFC criteria.
- Ensure coordination of structural design with architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
- Apply current Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), DoD, and ASCE standards to design deliverables.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and value engineering studies.
- Provide technical support during construction, including RFI responses, design clarifications, and on-site problem resolution.
- Prepare reports, design summaries, and technical recommendations for project managers.
