Job summary

Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to create, edit, and maintain clear, user-focused documentation for mission systems and processes. You will translate complex concepts into concise, understandable content for technical and non-technical audiences, working with customers, engineers, and program staff.

The role requires active TS/SCI clearance, 5+ years in DoD/IC documentation, and strong knowledge of SDLC, RMF, and IC terminology.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI security clearance
• 5+ years in DoD/IC documentation environments
• Ability to distill complex information into clear docs
• Experience creating developer-oriented and system documentation
• Experience with cross-functional teams (engineers, software devs)
• Proficient with multiple documentation tools for templates and styles
• Knowledge of SDLC, RMF, and IC IT terminology
• Experience supporting DoD/IC documentation efforts
• Familiarity with RMF documentation requirements

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain technical docs: guides, manuals, SOPs
• Translate complex concepts into plain-language docs
• Work with customers to translate requirements into specs
• Collaborate with developers and engineers on system docs
• Produce developer-oriented documentation for design and maintenance
• Design templates, formats, and output styles
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with standards
• Manage multiple docs and meet deadlines
• Edit and proofread for grammar and technical accuracy
• Maintain version control and updates for evolving systems
• Support SDLC, RMF, and IC IT environment documentation
