Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association, Inc. is seeking an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to support the NSWC Carderock Division in Bethesda, MD.

This full-time role requires a DoD Secret clearance and offers up to one day of remote work per week. The position involves inspecting safety across offices, labs, and HAZMAT areas, tracking training for ~750 staff, developing procedures, and collaborating with leadership on safety improvements, with travel to Memphis, TN

Qualifications

• AS or BS in Environmental Health and Safety or related field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
• 2–5 years of safety experience with OSHA familiarity.
• Familiarity with Safety Management Systems and IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety inspections for department offices, labs, and HAZMAT lockers and prepare post-inspection reports.
• Assist department personnel in rectifying and closing out existing safety deficiencies.
• Assist department supervisors in conducting safety inspections.
• Track and identify safety training requirements for approximately 700-750 people (ESAMS, OJT, Web, and medical surveillance).
• Develop internal and external operating procedures and checklists regarding safety processes and workflows.
