WHAT YOU WILL DO

Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of account processing, data entry, and policy issuance.

  • Ensures that account processing, risk modeling data entry, premium booking, and policy issuance are performed correctly and on a timely basis.
  • Monitors the quality and quantity of work for the unit.
  • Ensures department standards are met for timely policy issuance and endorsement processing.
  • Monitors workflow process to include accuracy, organization, and prioritization of Underwriting Assistants and technical support.
  • Evaluates workflow process and recommends changes to increase productivity.
  • Tracks individual team members' error rates and the types of errors made to ensure rates meet department standards for accuracy. Works with team members to correct errors and educate to avoid future issues.
  • Policy audits are assigned and performed monthly to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Point person for ICW's Internal Audit Team in RIB.

Partners with home office managers and the business liaison to test current and new technology systems.

  • Tests technology systems to ensure the systems function properly.
  • Suggests system improvements and work-around solutions to the home office managers and business liaison.
  • Develops highly technical knowledge in the field of responsibility by maintaining knowledge on ISO form changes and state policy filings.
  • Works various underwriting reports, including Inspection, IRPM, system access, errors, endorsements, etc. to ensure Underwriter assistants are working on the reports regularly.
  • Produces monthly, quarterly and annual production reports.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for system inquiries and issues.
  • Serves as a liaison between IT in Home Office and Underwriting for system issues.
  • Provides team member support to other areas in the Company.

Acts as support resource for applications such as Frank & Salesforce.

  • Suggests and implements workflow changes to improve department efficiency.
  • Tests changes and enhancements to applications to ensure performance is as expected.
  • Ensures Underwriting support staff is up to date with current procedures.

Develops and supervises direct reports in the performance of their daily activities for Underwriting support.

  • Provides daily direction to team. Communicates Mission, Values, and other organization operating principles to direct reports.
  • Establishes and maintains the overall work cadence and, in partnership with department leadership, ensures performance and outcomes strive for excellence in delivery and customer experience. Assigns projects and manages resources and results.
  • Sets performance expectations, team and individual goals and timelines in alignment with department management. Provides regular feedback and coaching to team members.
  • Establishes and adheres to hiring criteria, on-boarding, and training requirements for incoming staff.
  • Mentors and develops team members to further their skills and knowledge; creates and monitors development plans. Prepares and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Ensures staffing coverage for the team is available to support departmental needs and provides back up coverage for peak times and absences.
  • Enforces department policies and procedures. Acts as a resource for team members to answer questions and solve complex problems
  • Hires and develops employees and prepares disciplinary actions (including terminations)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position directly supervises employees within the DIC support team and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. These responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conducting performance and salary reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to further their skills and knowledge; creating and monitoring development plans; setting performance expectations / goals; forecasting staffing needs and planning for peak times and absences; enforcing department policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (or equivalent education and experience) required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Insurance and / or Underwriting experience required. Minimum of two years supervisory experience required.
  • Experience testing business computer systems preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to learn the quote pricing program and the policy processing program. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Office environment - no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands and employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in an office environment and requires the frequent use of a computer, telephone, copier, and other standard office equipment. Exposure to weather elements when touring properties. Exposure to construction material, dust, and debris may occur at any time before, during, and after tenant improvements.

The current range for this position is

78,678.61 - $132,686.15

This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education and the location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.
