• Strong academic writing skills and interest in contributing to manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow human-subjects research protocols.
• Commit approximately 20 hours per week for 12 months.
• Preferred: experience with clinical research, REDCap, qualitative analysis software, or interview/qualitative analysis methods.
• 12-month stipend with tuition remission.

Job Description Summary

The Doctoral Research Assistant will work with Dr. Koons and the research team on an NIH -funded study focused on improving outcomes for lung transplant patients and their caregivers. This position provides doctoral students with hands‑on experience in clinical research, including participant recruitment, longitudinal data collection, qualitative data collection and analysis, and dissemination of research findings.

Requirements

• Conducting study visits with patients and caregivers
• Administering study measures and collecting research data in accordance with study protocols
• Entering and maintaining study data in a database (REDCap)
• Taking the lead in conducting qualitative interviews with patients and caregivers
• Assisting Dr. Koons with qualitative data analysis
• Participating in weekly research team meetings
• Assisting with the preparation of manuscripts, conference abstracts, and research presentations throughout the study
• Assisting with other research activities as needed

Additional Information

The Doctoral Research Assistant will receive mentorship in clinical mixed methods research and will have opportunities to contribute to presentations and peer-reviewed publications resulting from the study.

• Preferred: Prior experience with clinical research, REDCap, qualitative analysis software, or manuscript preparation and experience or training in qualitative research methods, including interviewing and/or qualitative data analysis.
• 12-month stipend with tuition remission.
