Job summary

Saia is seeking a Freight Handler to sort and move freight in and out of over-the-road equipment, containers, city trailers, and straight trucks. You will operate forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload freight while ensuring compliance with regulations.

The role requires attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to read labels, complete shipping documents, and work with teams across shifts. Competitive hourly pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Read, write, communicate and comprehend English to perform the job and complete shipping documents.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight from trailers using forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Operate dock tools and maintain straps, bars, bags, and dunnage.
• Verify shipments by reading labels and securing freight for loading/unloading.
• Follow bill of lading and quality procedures to ensure timely, cost-efficient shipments.
• Log and report shortages and damages to freight.
• Promote a safe, clean work environment.
