Job summary

XGS is seeking a warehouse dockworker in California to load and unload freight, scan barcodes, and sort inventory. The role emphasizes accurate handling, safety, and rapid task execution in a busy dock environment.

The position requires 6 months of experience, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret work orders. Monday–Friday with a 3 PM start and a $19.50 hourly rate. Physical effort is substantial and safety protocols must be followed.

Responsibilities

• Unload delivery trucks transporting merchandise into the warehouse
• May load or unload by hand or with freight handling tools (lift truck, pallet jack, side cart)
• Use scanners to read barcodes on products
• Scan freight barcode and route to correct destination
• Verify shipping information from the scan unit for proper labeling
• Receive and store inventory
• Ensure merchandise matches work orders and update records
• Attach barcodes for tracking and routing
• Finalize work orders and update databases
• Inspect merchandise for damage or irregularities
• Ensure product meets quality requirements
• Report shortages, overages, and damages per procedures
• Sort freight by destination and verify counts
• Maintain dock cleanliness
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Overview

XGS warehouse dockworkers are responsible for loading and unloading freight by hand or by using a pallet jack/forklift, sorting product, and ensuring that trailers are properly and accurately loaded. This position includes using a barcode scanner and helps to maintain the service center dock as neat and orderly.

• Monday-Friday, 3PM Start Time!
• $19.50 Hourly!

Responsibilities

• Offloading delivery trucks transporting merchandise into the warehouse
• May load or unload by hand, or with freight handling tools such as lift truck, pallet jack, or side cart
• Use scanners to read bar codes on products
• Scan barcode on freight & ensure each freight movement to rack, floor or loading door
• View prompts on screens and follow the direction for some tasks
• Verify shipping information from the scan unit to ensure freight is labeled to go to the correct destination
• Receive and put away inventory
• Confirming merchandise information matches that of the work order
• Attach barcodes to freight for tracking and routing
• Finalizing the work order and updating the database
• Inspecting the merchandise for damage, flaws, and irregularities
• Ensure product meets quality requirements
• Report overage, shortages, and damages according to operating procedures
• Sort and segregate freight by destination
• Verify freight counts
• Dock clean-up as needed
• May include other duties as assigned by Management

Meet minimum hiring criteria

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing
• Experience operating lift truck, pallet jack, or side desired
• Frequently lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds; pull up to 100 pounds and push up to 50 pounds
• Occasionally climb stairs
• Frequently stoop, kneel or crouch

ENVIRONMENT

Most work is conducted in a comfortable office environment but exposure to site conditions may also occur. Personal protective equipment must be worn in all areas as required. Although the work usually is not considered inherently dangerous, must be careful while performing onsite services.
