We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join as a Dockworker. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe, efficient loading and unloading of freight, and supporting overall warehouse operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and be team-oriented. As part of our team, you will help uphold our promise of delivering customer freight accurately and on time, contributing to our OD Family culture.

Job Summary

The dockworker will efficiently load and unload freight, ensuring correct item placement on trucks. Safety is paramount, using equipment like forklifts and manual techniques to handle materials. Proper securing of freight with airbags, cardboard, and straps is essential to prevent damage during transport. This position directly impacts delivery reliability.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Load and unload freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manually, following DOT guidelines.
  • Transport freight throughout the service center on various surfaces.
  • Use the Dock Yard Management System to monitor shipment locations.
  • Read and interpret shipping labels and complete freight forms as needed.
  • Handle freight by hand, rewrap, or stack as necessary.
  • Ensure trailers are loaded properly and freight is secured inside trailers.
  • Communicate with service center personnel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting and freight transportation procedures.
  • Ability to operate hand-held tablets and other equipment.
  • Availability to work flexible hours to meet schedules.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, lift, push, pull, and reach, sometimes for extended periods and with heavy objects.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak English, and perform cognitive tasks related to safety and operations.

Work Environment

Employees will work in various environments, including loading/unloading, enclosed trailers, and outdoor conditions, with exposure to noise and weather variations. Reasonable accommodations are available.

Working Days: Monday through Friday

Shift: PM

Work schedules are subject to change based on business needs.
