Job summary

Sea Pro Boats seeks a Dock Technician to support the Quality Dept by ensuring boats are properly staged and loaded/unloaded. You will guide contract and dealer drivers through loading procedures and liaise with Logistics and Quality Managers.

You will perform safety checks, operate lift equipment, and maintain an organized, safe dock area while supporting continuous improvement in loading operations at the plant.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous logistics dock experience preferred.
• Reading safety signs is required.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload boats using forklifts, cranes, and pallet jacks.
• Conduct daily safety inspections per laws and internal policies.
• Coordinate with Logistics/Quality Managers to plan deliveries.
• Operates material-handling equipment to move freight.
• Keep dock area organized, clean and safe per procedures.
• Communicate with managers and dock staff to ensure cargo flow.

Summary

Dock Technician works in Quality Dept reporting to Quality Manager.

Position Overview

The Dock Technician will assist a team of employees ensuring that boats are properly staged and loaded/unloaded, and direct contract and dealer truck drivers through loading and unloading processes and procedures. Will coordinate individual dealer relationships with the Logistics and Quality Managers to ensure proper loading requirements are met at the plant to facilitate unloading requirements at the receiving end.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and efficient loading and unloading of all boats using equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and pallet jacks.
• Conduct daily inspections, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and internal laws, regulations, and policies.
• Consult with Logistics/Quality Manager to plan deliveries of future shipments.
• Safely operate material-handling equipment to move freight, monitor trailer construction, and ensure load quality.
• Keep the dock area organized, clean, and safe, following all safety protocols and company procedures.
• Closely communicate with Logistics/Quality Manager and other dock personnel always ensuring proper cargo movement.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Maintain Safety Training as assigned.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Material handling experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety signs.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot minor assembly issues.
• Knowledge of boating components or marine systems a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to Stand and Walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry/move up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent needs to: climb, crawl, push, pull, lift, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, speak, hear, visually inspect work, rotate arms at various angles, reach overhead, reach at or below shoulder level, gross, fine manipulation to operate hand and power tools, etc.
• Read levels, temperatures and gauges.
• Ability to traverse facility in variety of surfaces and levels.
• Ability to work in confined spaces within boat hulls and compartments.
• Work in an environment with exposure to noise at levels not requiring ear protection, chemicals, and dust. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, and eye protection.
• Must be able to wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and respirators as required.
• Work off a creeper.
• Seasonal Temperatures may impact work environment.
