Job summary

AAA Cooper Transportation, Inc. is hiring a Dock Supervisor at our Minneapolis service center to oversee daily terminal and dock operations and manage dockworkers to ensure safe, efficient loading and unloading of freight.

The role requires supervising shifts, enforcing DOT/OSHA compliance, and driving continuous improvement through coaching, inspections, and performance monitoring. Strong safety focus and familiarity with YMS, Maven, and related freight systems are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse, freight, dock, or logistics operations.
• Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and safe freight-handling practices.
• Forklift certification or hazmat training preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in verifying shipments.
• Successful completion of new-hire training, including assessments, and forklift test.
• Minimum 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Monitor employee safety practices daily.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized dock environment.
• Supervise dockworkers and assign tasks to optimize labor and equipment utilization.
• Ensure trailers are loaded/unloaded correctly for safe freight transport.
• Review operational reports and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and cost control.
• Make quick, informed decisions based on freight volume and schedules.
• Coach and train employees on safety procedures and policies.
• Provide constructive feedback and manage disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Conduct daily shift meetings to align teams with business objectives.
• Utilize internal freight monitoring systems to track shipments and productivity.
• Complete required forms, including hazmat documents and manifests.
• Partner with Operations Managers to meet performance goals.
