Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock/ramp associate to move freight between dock areas and trailers in a fast-paced environment. The role involves using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to load and secure cargo, while verifying documentation for weight, type and hazardous materials.

You may assist customers and perform hostling duties as needed. Candidates should have at least a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred), basic math and communication skills, and the ability to lift

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Warehouse or dock experience is a plus.
• Ability to count and perform basic math with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to lift/carry heavy freight (up to ~100 lb) and lift dock plates (~75 lb) repeatedly.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck as needed.
• Verify freight documentation against description (type, weight, hazmat).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, rope.
• Repair or recoup damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports accurately.
• Assist customers with freight and related documentation.
• Perform hostling duties when required.
