Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Dockworker in Minnesota. The role focuses on efficiently loading and unloading freight, using forklifts or manual techniques, and ensuring safe, accurate deliveries in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will handle freight securely, read shipping labels, and use the yard management system to track locations across the service center. A strong safety mindset and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
• Familiarity with freight forms: shipping orders, manifests, freight bills, exception forms.
• Ability to use the dock yard management system to monitor shipment locations.
• Must be available to work to meet customer pickup and delivery schedules.
• Ability to operate a handheld tablet when needed.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using a forklift, pallet jack, or manually per DOT guidelines.
• Use loading techniques such as tight or cross loading.
• Move yourself and freight around the service center as needed.
• Monitor freight locations with the Dock Yard Management System.
• Read and interpret shipping labels.
• Complete freight movement forms as required.
• Hand load, rewrap or stack freight as needed.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets and straps.
• Interact with service center personnel; work fast-paced and deadline-driven.
