Job summary

Wolter, Inc. in Indianapolis is seeking a Dock & Door Technician to inspect, repair, and maintain loading dock equipment at customers’ facilities. You will install dock levelers, truck restraints, and related equipment, with a company vehicle and gear provided.

Key responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical issues; performing preventive maintenance; documenting timecards and service reports; and collaborating with warehouse teams while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• One to three years of experience in dock equipment, industrial maintenance, or related field.
• Technical training or certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
• Must have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Must successfully complete any training courses required.
• Strong customer orientation.
• Must be a good communicator – written and verbal.
• Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
• Basic computer proficiency and laptop fundamentals.
• Must own tools necessary to perform repairs.
• Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Must be certified to operate material handling equipment.
• Commitment to company vision and mission.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and repair loading docks, dock levelers, dock seals, truck shelters, and overhead doors.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, air, and electrical issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance on dock equipment.
• Respond to emergency repair calls as needed.
• Attend service training classes offered to maintain knowledge on new products, or for refreshers on products not encountered too often.
• Complete all service jobs that are assigned to you.
• Complete and submit all paperwork daily for jobs worked on (timecards, maintenance reports with customers’ signature). Paperwork must be completed at job site before leaving for the next job or going home.
• Maintain accurate service and inspection records.
• Work collaboratively with warehouse and logistics teams.
• Communicate with dispatcher and/or service office as to status of jobs and availability for new jobs.
• Maintain an organized service van.
• Develop and maintain relationships with territory sales representatives to keep them informed of sales opportunities you might see.
• Always adhere to safety rules and policies at all times, ensuring compliance with safety standards and company policies.
