Job summary

ProTrans in Romulus, MI is seeking a warehouse coordinator to ensure proper receiving, storing, and shipping of freight, and to handle data entry floor transactions.

You will follow operations, verify shipments, manage inventory, coordinate trailers, perform yard/dock checks, prepare shipments with accurate paperwork, and support safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and write in English; basic report writing and communication skills.
• Knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Follows and ensures compliance with procedures for verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and maintaining warehouse inventory accuracy.
• Coordinates receipt and processing of all incoming freight; inspects for damage; maintains inventory accuracy; performs cycle counts.
• Coordinates movement of trailers within the facility; conducts yard and dock checks.
• Prepares materials for shipment; verifies part numbers, counts, paperwork, barcoding, and trailer/load matching.
• Inspects and reports physical condition of warehouse and equipment; escalates repairs when needed.
• Supports safety, training, and plant protection activities; ensures OS&D area is organized and compliant.
• Ensures staff have assignments and tools; identifies improvements to enhance performance.

Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating the proper receiving, storing, and shipping of all incoming freight and data entry floor transactions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follows and ensures compliance with operational procedures for verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and maintaining accurate warehouse inventory.
• Coordinates the receipt and processing of all incoming freight, examines freight for damage, maintains inventory management, cycle counts, inventory accuracy, and places freight in proper location.
• Coordinates the movement of trailers within the facility grounds.
• Coordinates yard and dock checks.
• Coordinates the preparation of materials for shipment: to include verification of part numbers, count boxes, and skids as necessary, verify correct paperwork and bar coding, matches trailer number with load,
• Inspects and reports physical condition of warehouse and equipment.
• Escalate the need for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
• Confers with the supervisor/manager to ensure coordination of warehouse activities.
• Supports and complies with all company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
• Participates in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities.
• Makes sure that the OS&D quarantine area is organized and procedures followed
• Ensures that all material handlers have assignments and the appropriate tools to do their job.
• Identifies and implements continual improvement initiatives to enhance the performance of the position, team, and company.
• Could handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously or switching rapidly between tasks while maintaining high productivity and accuracy

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsibilities include participating in interviews with supervisor/manager present, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; provide feedback to supervisor/manager on performance of employees; assists the Manager in addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to read and write in English is required. Ability to speak Spanish and English maybe required in some centers.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed by uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of TMS software.
