Job summary

Chair King Backyard Store in Houston, TX is hiring a warehouse associate to prepare merchandise for delivery, unwrap and inspect items, and stage goods for loading. The role includes basic assembly, touch-ups, re-wrapping, and assisting with customer pickups.

It requires basic reading, simple math, and ability to print and communicate clearly. Previous experience isn’t required, and overtime may be required.

This position involves the preparation work necessary for delivery of merchandise as well as basic warehouse functions. The position will occasionally require the employee to work overtime hours.

Essential Duties:

• Unwraps and assembles furniture at the assigned dock.
• Cleans and inspects merchandise for errors and defects.
• Touch-up merchandise as needed
• Re-wraps merchandise for delivery
• Stages merchandise for delivery truck loading
• Assist with Customer Pick-ups (CPUs)
• Unload Receiving inventory containers and trucks
• Completes other duties as assigned by warehouse leadership team

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
