Job summary

The Chair King, Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Worker in Houston, Texas, to assist in merchandise preparation, including unwrapping, assembling, and staging furniture for delivery. The position requires less than a high school education and the ability to lift heavy weights. Candidates must demonstrate basic reading and math skills, as well as the ability to follow simple instructions. Regular exposure to a noisy environment and physical demands are expected.

Qualifications

  • Ability to follow common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Unwraps and assembles furniture at the assigned dock.
  • Cleans and inspects merchandise for errors and defects.
  • Stages merchandise for delivery truck loading.

Job description

This position involves the preparation work necessary for delivery of merchandise as well as basic warehouse functions. The position will occasionally require the employee to work overtime hours.

Essential Duties:
  • Unwraps and assembles furniture at the assigned dock.
  • Cleans and inspects merchandise for errors and defects.
  • Touch-up merchandise as needed
  • Re-wraps merchandise for delivery
  • Stages merchandise for delivery truck loading
  • Assist with Customer Pick-ups (CPUs)
  • Unload Receiving inventory containers and trucks
  • Completes other duties as assigned by warehouse leadership team
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
