Job summary

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Part-time Docent Program Assistant (24 hours/week). You will support the Docent Program by helping train docents and junior docents, preparing interpretive materials, and coordinating daily schedules for tours and events.

Ideal candidates have an AA in a natural history-related field or education and at least one year of teaching or materials development experience; bilingual Spanish is a plus and some weekend/evening hours are required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a natural history-related field and/or education with one year teaching or materials experience.
• Knowledge of Sonoran Desert natural history preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with Docent and Junior Docent Training.
• Assists with day-to-day Docent operations; responds to concerns and questions.
• Develops and updates interpretive kits and materials for Docents and Junior Docents.
• Creates interpretive schedules for daily programming and events.
• Recruits and coordinates Docents for Special Events.
