Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Systems Engineer for the DNS team in Austin to own medium-to-large projects from design to completion. You will mentor juniors, help improve system resilience, and contribute to shaping features and processes in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have strong systems programming fundamentals, and hands-on experience with Rust or Go, with a track record of learning quickly.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Science or comparable practical experience.
• Strong systems programming fundamentals, including performance, concurrency, and networking.
• Ability to write production code in Rust or Go or quickly learn a comparable language.
• Willingness to own changes beyond coding: rollout, monitoring, on-call, and follow-up.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and expand DNS infrastructure, implementing features for customers.
• Write high-quality, maintainable, well-tested code to improve systems.
• Serve as SME for moderately complex systems and assist teammates.
• Proactively identify issues and propose solutions to improve processes and technology.
• Collaborate with Product and stakeholders on PRDs.
• Mentor and onboard junior engineers through code and design reviews.
• Debug and resolve complex service issues to improve resilience through refactoring and re-architecting.
