Ansa Biotechnologies, Inc. in Emeryville, California, is seeking a Research Associate to join our R&D team. You will support early-stage product development and process development by executing molecular biology experiments and troubleshooting workflows.

You will help bring ideas to robust, scalable processes, with opportunities to grow and develop methods that don’t yet exist while learning from scientists with diverse technical backgrounds.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related field
• 1–3 years hands-on laboratory experience (academic or industry)
• Strong DNA cloning, manipulation, and analysis skills
• Experience with protein purification and characterization techniques
• Meticulous documentation and experimental execution
• Proactive, can-do attitude with ability to adapt to shifting priorities
• Willingness to learn new techniques quickly

Responsibilities

• Execute and analyze molecular biology experiments to support new product development and process optimization
• Perform DNA cloning and manipulation (PCR, restriction digestion, ligation, rolling-circle amplification, assembly, transformation, gel electrophoresis, DNA purification)
• Conduct protein expression, purification, and characterization (SDS-PAGE, Western blot, activity assays)
• Develop and optimize protocols for enzymatic DNA synthesis workflows
• Maintain thorough lab notebooks and documentation
• Analyze data rigorously and present findings to the team
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to advance projects from concept to implementation
