Job summary

Atlas Data Storage is seeking a Lab Manager to oversee biology, chemistry, and engineering labs including DNA synthesis support. You will ensure safe, compliant operations and provide resources for scientists and engineers, while coordinating with facilities on planning and expansion.

The role emphasizes EH&S leadership, maintenance of equipment, and strong vendor relationships to keep the lab running efficiently. Onsite work in South San Francisco, CA is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology or chemistry and 5–10 years in lab management.
• Strong communication and organizational skills to guide diverse technical teams.
• Proven EH&S leadership and compliance coordination experience.
• Knowledge of chemical handling, SDS management, and waste disposal requirements.
• Experience with lab equipment maintenance and vendor coordination.

Responsibilities

• Oversee biology, chemistry, and engineering labs and cleanroom support.
• Maintain safe, compliant lab environments and promote best practices.
• Ensure space, equipment, and resources for scientists and engineers.
• Manage hazardous waste programs and SDS library.
• Lead EH&S programs, coordinate with consultants, and chair safety meetings.
• Oversee preventive maintenance, service contracts, and repairs.
• Support shared lab services and inventory of consumables and gases.
• Collaborate with facilities on planning, expansion, and construction.
• Report to Senior Director of Protein Development.
