Job summary

Genetic Visions is seeking a Lab Technician to perform DNA extraction and genotyping using Illumina and Affymetrix platforms, with robotics support. This full‑time role runs Tuesday–Saturday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM on site in Wisconsin.

You will catalog samples, maintain notebooks, operate and troubleshoot lab equipment, and assist with SNP genotyping and data reporting to customers and internal teams. A degree in molecular biology or related field and lab experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Preferred associate’s or bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biotechnology or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Catalog samples, compile sample information and assign tracking codes to samples.
• Maintain laboratory notebooks and/or data forms/records.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with good practices.
• Perform DNA extraction and quantification in preparation for various molecular biology techniques.
• Assist with microarray techniques for genotyping samples.
• Provide support for SNP genotyping assays and assist with genotyping analysis.
• Assist with communication of results and data to customers and corporate staff.
• Prepare general laboratory stock solutions and materials.
• Comply with lab safety policies at all times.
• Use various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, email, internet, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or test reports.
• Exhibit proper handling of potentially hazardous chemical and/or biological agents in the workplace.
• Monitor inventory levels and proper storage of materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Identifies and Participates in Continuous Improvement initiatives
• Other duties as assigned.
