STgenetics offers a hybrid Laboratory Technician & Data Analyst position in Middleton, WI that blends hands-on laboratory work with practical data analysis. In this role, you will support high-throughput genetic testing and DNA genotyping by combining careful molecular biology execution with data quality and reporting inside a LIMS environment.

What you’ll do

• Maintain detailed, accurate laboratory records, including sample tracking, testing procedures, and data analysis results.
• Prepare reports, summaries, and presentations as required.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment according to established standards and best practices.
• Preserve sample integrity while processing samples for high-throughput genetic analyses, including DNA extraction, purification, quantification, and normalization.
• Prepare laboratory stock solutions, reagents, and materials, while complying with laboratory safety protocols.
• Perform quality control checks on samples, reagents, and equipment to support reliability and accuracy.
• Support microarray-based genotyping sample processing and SNP genotyping assays, including genotyping analysis.
• Analyze data generated from Illumina genotyping platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve sample quality issues and instrument performance concerns.
• Use software applications such as spreadsheets, databases, statistical tools, and reporting platforms to assemble, manipulate, analyze, and present data.
• Assist with communicating test results and data to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Support method validation activities, including hands-on testing and documentation of validation results.
• Assist with genotype submission and support customer conflict resolution by reporting genotyping conflicts and helping process resolution.
• Perform sample nominations at CDCB and process approved pedigree changes through CDCB.
• Coordinate SNP transfers to data centers worldwide.
• Support customer care activities within the LIMS, including data entry, reporting, and test-result documentation.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper storage of laboratory supplies and materials.
• Work independently with minimal supervision after completing training.

Required skills

• Previous laboratory experience.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Knowledge of at least one programming language (Python preferred).
