Job summary

State of Maryland’s Maryland State Police, Forensic Sciences Division, Biology Section in Pikesville seeks a full-time contractual records and sample accessioning specialist. The role handles arrestee and convicted offender DNA samples, ensures proper data entry and batch preparation for testing, and manages expungement workflows as required by new law changes.

Responsibilities include maintaining chain of custody, organizing evidence, and supporting expungement processing.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• Two years of experience with administrative functions or handling/inventorying evidence.
• Notes: AA degree may substitute for the required experience; military admin experience may substitute as well.

Responsibilities

• Destroy Arrestee and Convicted Offender samples that qualify for expungement per the DNA Database Law.
• Processes Arrestee and Convicted Offender samples that are received at FSD daily to include data entry, tracking program updates and filing DNA database cards
• Prepare batches of Arrestee and Convicted Offender samples that qualify to be tested per the DNA Database Law for the DNA Database Forensic Scientists
• Pull Arrestee and Convicted Offender samples that qualify to be expunged or are needed for hit confirmation
