Job summary

SUGARED + BRONZED is seeking an Area Manager to oversee a team of store managers and drive performance across the DC/MD markets. You will lead operations, sales growth, customer service, and expense management while developing talent and ensuring adherence to standards.

You will travel between designated markets, recruit and retain top talent, and coach store directors to deliver consistent, high-impact results in a vibrant, customer-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of multi‑unit management experience in a retail or salon environment.
• Strong passion for the beauty industry; esthetician or cosmetology background preferred but not required.
• Ability to travel between designated markets for store visits and oversight.
• Positive, collaborative attitude to foster a productive work environment.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Area Manager position oversees a team of store managers and is responsible for driving overall performance and achieving results across the designated market. This role focuses on three main pillars: performance, including sales growth, customer service, and expense management; people, with a focus on talent acquisition, development, and retention; and process, ensuring strict adherence to operating procedures and standards. The Area Manager role plays a key role in aligning store operations with company objectives, fostering a culture of excellence, and delivering consistent, high-impact results.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Communicate and implement all operational initiatives effectively across store locations.


• Drive KPIs and ensure a high level of service at each location.


• Attract, hire, and retain a diverse team of top talent.


• Manage store-level utilization by monitoring demand, labor trends, and staffing each location accordingly.


• Oversee the scheduling and booking software, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.


• Work alongside Managers during weekly store visits to provide hands‑on leadership and support.


• Lead manager and associate development through training, feedback, coaching, and growth planning.


• Ensure continuous professional development and sales performance by providing ongoing training and education for Store Directors.


• Foster a warm, fun, and friendly environment for both store teams and clients.

REQUIREMENTS

• 2-3 years of multi‑unit management experience in a retail or salon environment.


• A strong passion for the beauty industry (esthetician or cosmetology experience preferred, but not required).


• A genuine interest in contributing to company growth and success.


• A positive, can‑do attitude that fosters a collaborative and productive work environment.


• Open to flexible, full‑time availability with the ability to travel between designated markets.

• The total annual compensation for this position includes a base salary and bonuses. Quarterly bonuses, based on both personal and regional performance. Bonuses are designed to be realistic and attainable.

The pay range for this role is:

70,000 - 80,000 USD per year (DC - DMV - Georgetown)

70,000 - 80,000 USD per year (DC - DMV - Logan Circle)

70,000 - 80,000 USD per year (MD - DMV - Bethesda)
