Optim Orthopedics in Savannah, GA seeks a DME Technician (Medical Equipment Fitter) to fit patients with orthopedic braces and devices and educate on proper use and care. The role supports efficient administrative operations and fosters positive patient experiences across departments.

The ideal candidate has a healthcare background, strong communication, and proficiency with MS Office and EMR systems (Athena). Excellent patient service and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred with healthcare exposure.
• Healthcare experience required with preference in patient care.
• Experience in a medical field with preference in patient care.
• Basic computer skills: MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel.
• Knowledge of practice management and electronic health record software (Athena).

Responsibilities

• Fits patients with orthopedic braces and devices.
• Educates customers/patients on application, use and care of supplies.
• Verify patient benefits and communicate patient responsibility clearly.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA and practice guidelines.
• Document patient interactions and communications in charts.
• Purchase, maintain inventory, and dispense DME and WC supplies.
• Complete Proof of Delivery/ABN with billing codes and charges.
• Follow procedures for dispensing DME per DME Manager directions.
• Maintain knowledge of practice management, EMR, and related software.
