Job summary

Golden State Orthopedics & Spine is seeking motivated new grads to join our DME Team in the Bay Area. No prior experience needed; extensive training will be provided.

You will work with top orthopedic surgeons and healthcare professionals to gain patient-care experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Responsibilities include assisting with casts, braces, gait training, patient education, and care under an Athletic Trainer.

Qualifications

  • New grads in kinesiology or Physical Therapy, willing to learn and train.
  • No prior experience required; training provided.
  • Able to work full-time 40 hours Mon-Fri.
  • Able to work with physicians and staff in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in applying and removing casts, splints, and dressings.
  • Assist in fitting braces, boots, and other DME per physician.
  • Perform gait training and crutch fitting.
  • Provide patient education materials and communicate physician advice.
  • Deliver patient care under supervision of an Athletic Trainer.
  • Document payer requirements and standard operating procedures.
  • Schedule patients, manage inventory, process orders, and follow up on insurance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About the Role
  • We are looking for motivated new grad students to become part of our DME Team. This is the perfect opportunity for graduating students who are interested in Kinesiology or becoming a Physical Therapist. No prior experience needed. We will train. Work with a wide spectrum of highly regarded orthopedic surgeons and healthcare providers in the Bay Area. Gain considerable experience in patient care. Grow as a professional working in a fun, fast-paced, collaborative, and diverse environment.
What You'll Do
  • Assisting in applying and removing casts, splints, and dressings as directed
  • Assisting in fitting patients with braces, boots, other DME as ordered and directed by physician
  • Performing gait training and crutch fitting as directed
  • Providing patient education materials, communicates physician advice/instructions to patient
  • Providing patient care under the supervision of a certified Athletic Trainer
  • Ensuring that all necessary documentation is obtained as it relates to payer requirements and standard operating procedures
  • Performing patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include scheduling patients, inventory maintenance, order processing, delivery, explanation of insurance benefits, and courtesy follow up calls
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems
  • Ability to triage patient care questions related to post-op, post-injury, infection, complications, etc
  • Work effectively as team member with physicians and other staff
  • Must have a flexible work schedule with the ability to work late some days and work through the lunch break on busy clinic days
  • Must be able to work full-time 40 hours a week Monday - Friday
