Job summary

Nebraska Orthopaedic Center is seeking a Cast Technician to join our team in Lincoln, NE. This full-time role focuses on applying and removing casts and immobilization devices, fitting braces, and educating patients.

Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 8–5. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED with related medical office experience and a commitment to patient confidentiality and high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of one year of experience in a medical office setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality orthopaedic care for patients requiring immobilization.
  • Applies, removes, and assesses need for changes of casts and immobilization devices.
  • Measures and fits custom braces.
  • Educates patients and families on orthotic devices and responds to questions by phone.
  • Maintains patient care environment, handles orders, receives and stocks supplies; cleans/stocks exam and cast rooms; assists with instrument sterilization.
  • Assists with fitting braces and special casts as needed.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines.
  • Attends required clinic meetings and participates in professional development activities.
  • Performs related work as required.

  • Provides quality orthopaedic care for patients requiring all forms of immobilization.
  • Responsible for applying, removing, and assessing the need for a change of all types of orthopaedic casts and immobilization devices.
  • Measures and fits custom braces.
  • Educates patients/families regarding the application/wearing of orthotic devices and serves as a resource for patients via telephone.
  • Maintains patient care environment including orders, receiving, and stores supplies; cleans/stocks exam and cast rooms; assists in cleaning and sterilization of instruments.
  • Assist with fitting braces and special casts when needed.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and follows HIPAA Guidelines.
  • Attends required clinic meetings and participates in professional development activities.
  • Performs related work as required.
