Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Inc. is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist for weekend shifts in Ponca City, OK.

The role involves specimen handling, testing, reporting, and maintaining records with adherence to CLIA/HIPAA/OSHA guidelines. The candidate should have an AS degree in Medical Lab Technology (or BS in Medical Technology) and MT/MLT certification or eligibility, with about one year of high-complexity lab experience preferred.

Qualifications

• AS degree in Medical Lab Technology or BS in Medical Technology.
• ASCP MT/MLT certification or eligible for national MT/MLT certification.
• 1 year of clinical experience in high complexity testing preferred.
• Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing for BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology.

Responsibilities

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
• Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures (see department SOPs).
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
• Adhere to quality control policies, document all QC activities, calibrations and maintenance.
• Follow established policies and procedures when tests are not within acceptable performance levels.
• Identify problems that may affect test performance and notify senior staff.
• Document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from performance specifications.

Location: Ponca City, OK

Hours: Saturday and Sunday /16 hours/Varied Day and Evening Hours As Needed

Essential Functions

• Report to work on time and prepared for each scheduled shift
• Perform all assigned duties and processes, including tasks for which you are fully qualified and those within your demonstrated capabilities

• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
• Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge/Education

• AS degree in Medical Lab Technology or BS in Medical Technology.
• ASCP MT/MLT certification or equivalent or be eligible for national MT/MLT certification

Required Experience

• 1-year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
• Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing for those with BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology.
