DJJ Certified Medical Assistant - Marietta, GA | 40 hrs/week

Augusta University is Georgia's innovation center for education and healthcare, training the next generation of innovators, leaders, and healthcare providers.

Established in 2017, the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services was created through a collaboration between Augusta University Health System and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice. Its goal is to deliver high-quality health services to justice-involved youth across 25 facilities in Georgia.

Job Summary

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week.

Base rate of $20.00 per hour

41 paid days off annually

Role Overview

As part of the facility's clinical team, this role involves performing both administrative and clinical tasks in a medical care environment. Supports physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, or other healthcare providers. Responsible for evaluating and preparing patients for provider assessments.

Responsibilities

1. Patient triage: Taking vital signs, recording patient interviews and complaints, and preparing patients for exams or procedures.
2. Lab processing and routine tests: Handling lab requests, performing venipuncture, screening tests, EKGs, nebulizer treatments, and changing dressings as ordered.
3. Medication administration: Preparing and administering prescribed medications; documenting times and dosages.
4. Data entry and documentation: Entering clinical data into electronic medical records and maintaining accurate documentation.
5. Administrative duties: Answering phones, scheduling appointments, and supporting clerical tasks.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements: High school diploma with two years of experience and certification from one of the following:

• AAMA - American Association of Medical Assistants
• CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
• MedCa - Medical Career Assessment
• NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant
• RMA - Registered Medical Assistant

Preferred Qualifications

Three or more years of clinical experience, including correctional settings. Experience with electronic medical records is preferred. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
