SUMMARY

Plans and directs all aspects of the marketing and communications department for Alliant's Employee Benefits division, including branding, B2B, digital, creative, analytics, public relations, media, and communications strategies. Responsible for evaluating and developing marketing strategies, planning and coordinating efforts, communicating plans to executive leadership, key stakeholders, and the marketing team. Oversees internal and external communications activities, promotional campaigns, and ensures positive public relations. Provides strategic guidance on effective communications approaches.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Contribute to marketing effectiveness by identifying issues, producing solutions, communicating pertinent information, recommending options, and implementing directives.
  2. Develop and execute a marketing strategy for Alliant EB, define objectives, measure results, and ensure successful outcomes.
  3. Oversee media relations, including press releases, relationships with industry editors, editorial placement, awards, and speaking opportunities.
  4. Evaluate and approve all communication regarding the division for public release.
  5. Research industry trends and competitors, adjust marketing and communication plans accordingly.
  6. Collaborate with Producers and RFP Response teams to develop strategies that optimize revenue and market share.
  7. Develop and improve the company’s brand strategy.
  8. Prepare and manage all marketing and communication materials.
  9. Increase sales and lead generation through marketing and communication expertise.
  10. Plan and direct marketing projects from start to finish.
  11. Enhance market awareness through marketing plans and promotional support.
  12. Oversee social media and content marketing strategies.
  13. Engage regularly with executive leadership and sales teams.
  14. Promote a sales-driven marketing culture.
  15. Manage the marketing department staff, including delegation, mentoring, and performance evaluation.
  16. Oversee graphic design efforts for sales presentations, brochures, and advertisements.
  17. Manage the marketing and communications budget, including expenditures and variances.
  18. Develop media contacts and manage media relations.
  19. Create and manage a calendar of events such as podcasts, webinars, and conferences.
  20. Organize sponsorships, trade shows, and major events.
  21. Provide tools and materials to support the sales team.
  22. Negotiate with media agencies and oversee production of promotional materials.
  23. Support professional development of marketing staff through mentorship and training.
  24. Engage with outside marketing consultants as needed.
  25. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, or communications, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years developing and executing marketing strategies with successful outcomes.
  • 5+ years of executive leadership experience.
  • Experience with digital marketing, graphic design, marketing automation, and public relations.
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM software.
  • Experience with sales enablement tools like Seismic, Adobe Creative Suite, Asana.
  • Insurance industry experience is preferred.

SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of marketing and communications best practices.
  • Knowledge of market research techniques and tools.
  • Understanding of strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership, and organizational methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
